    Default Constantine

I saw this movie the other night and WOW it was really, really good. It was 100x better than I thought it would be.
Seriously, there hasn't been any good movies for quite a while (even the academy award nominations weren't all that good)..so I didn't have very high hopes for this one..especially since it came from the Hellblazer comics (which I enjoyed).

However, I was very pleasantly surprised and the movie was great. Great story, awesome effects, etc.
And yes, it was very "churchy" but it wasn't preachy lame churchy, it was cool church stuff. It didn't come off incredibly preachy to me, however there were a couple parts that one might take as preaching (Such as, All you humans have to do is repent and god will take you into his bosom.. (Paraphrasing, I can't remember the direct quote).

Great movie, definetly go see it. It's very action oriented, with lots of cool effects and a great story. The acting was also pretty good. Sure Keanu Reeves is usually pretty wooden, but this time it fits the character quite well.
The character of Jim Constantine is a badmouth, chainsmoking, badass who is only exorcizing demons to secure a place in heaven (since he's doomed to go to hell).

    Anyways, go check it out!

I actually have been planning to go see it as soon as I heard about it, love dark stuff like that.

I went to the movies hoping to see it, but it wasn't out there yet so... I went and saw Hitch instead. I still wanna see it, but it might be a while as I am not one to get money easily.

I was a little skeptical on this one since most movies have sucked since last november or so.. XD
But it was awesome, I do hope you enjoy it :3
I've seen a lot of people who didn't enjoy it, but I think they were just either a) being a little TOO skeptical and B) Were looking forward to it too much

I suppose when you have low hopes for a movie and it ends up good you're like WOW!
But I loved it, so that's that XD

I saw the trailers, and it looked good. So I should see it?

BTW, I heard Hitch was a miss.

See Constantine if you like action. It's basically an action movie.
There is a lot of church stuff but it's nothing boring, preachy or lame.

I heard Hitch sucked as well..I haven't seen it but it probably would've been better if the character Hitch wasn't a screwup with women himself..
    I don't know though.

I was neither skeptical, nor particularly looking forward to it, and still I was pretty underwhelmed. I suppose that shoots that theory down.

There were some really interesting concepts at work in the film, but even so, the slapdash pacing and almost arbitrary handling of all the film's characters save Constantine himself, just didn't do it for me.

I judge a movie's success on wether or not it leaves it's mark on me, and I left the theater after having watched Constantine with nothing that really stood out in my mind. Nothing really defined the movie for me, and in the end it just struck me as being another average flick. Would I recommend it? I suppose. I'm sure some will find this movie to be memorable. You clearly do. I myself feel that after seeing it, had I not watched it I'd not have missed out on anything at all.

Cidsa, I just saw it on Friday, and yes, it is good. I go to work the next day, and four of my fellow co-workers thought it was a horrible movies. Then again, they don't have a very long attention span. Some of the movie was hard to grasp, but it was easily resolvable by common sense. It was a good movie overall though, a B+ in my mind. Heck of a lot better than the C+ than my local paper gave it.

Hrm, this is odd. I've downloaded it twice now, and both copies seem to be using some oddball codec... I have the VLC media player and Matroska stuff installed, but I still don't get audio or video.
