P4 2.5 gig processor
512 DDR Ram
Radeon 8500 vid card
Win XP Pro, & the rest are unknown to me.
The problems began a couple months ago when i got this new comp, & i think it might be firewall related or something. I'll just number them, that might be easiest..
1)When i use Kazaa Lite K++, & leave it on for about an hour or so, all the d/ls just stop, & they all say "more sources needed,' or 'remotely queued,' or something of the like. That by itself doesn't sound bad, but the fact is, on my old comp, it would never do that. There would always be something d/ling, & it would always find sources for files, so it wouldn't be a waste of time leaving my comp on all night, per say. Now with the new comp, i have to restart Kazaa every hour or so just to get it to d/l something again. Even right clicking on a file & choosing 'Find more sources' doesn't work after an hour or so.
2)When i start Gamespy Arcade, a message pops up saying
" Proxy or Firewall Detected.
Gamespy Arcade has detected that your computer's internal IP address (IP Addy..) is different that it's external IP address (Other IP Addy..). This may be caused by firewalls, a NAT proxies, or other unusual network configurations & may prevent your from hosting a game..."
Once again, it never did this on my old comp.
3)When i try to use eMule, it says i have a LowID. I checked out the LowID faq, but couldn't figure out how to get myself a HighID... It's all greek to me.
As far as I know, i have no firewall on this comp.. I never installed one, & the other profiles can't install anything. The guy who put the comp together might have put one on here, but i can't find anything that might be a firewall.. As for proxies & NAT proxies, i have no idea how to fool around with those. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well from the looks of it you probably have some sort of firewall.
Do you use a router?
If so that would probably cause it, if thats the case just open the ports to the various programs if you can
Have you tried checking to see if the winXP firewall is enabled? I believe it's enabled by default.
Check Start>control panel>right click on... network connections>open. When in there look at your connection and see if it says firewalled under status. If so then you can disable it by right clicking your connection>properties>advanced>uncheck... protect my computer.. That should disable it.

No, there is no router here. I was going to use one at first, but it wouldn't work, & my friend just hooked up the regular DSL Modem.

I checked it out, & the "protect my computer" button was already un-checked.
1. Kazza that happens often now adays since RIAA is has been on its witch hunts. Less people are sharing.
2. It would be nice to get a snap shot of whats running in the background with ctrl-alt-del and see processes. Just to make sure your not running a firewall software.
External ip: this is the ip that your dsl provider gives you.
Internal ip: this is the ip that is configured using firewall, router, hub, or switch. The ip address ususally starts with 198.162.xxx.xxx
To match your external and internal ip with your dsl provider use this software. http://www.fasttrackhelp.com/development/ftfakes/
download kaNat software. After using this you should be able to download more since other people will have "direct" access to your computer instead of your firewall (if you have one running) blocking the download.
3. eMule now has a rating system. The more you upload the higher your ratings go. So now the people who share the most files get higher priority in the download sequecne, then those who don't.
Graphics, and 3D polygons don't make great games, story-lines do!!
Sorry for the late reply, work takes up a lot of my time. o.o

Makes sense.

Sbrowser is SlimBrowser, the browser i use. I like it cause of the tabbed interface, though i didn't notice that it was taking up so much RAM.. Guess i must find another. O.o;;

www.mozilla.org <= you know you wanna click the link, don't you. So click it!
I think i tried Mozilla before, but didn't really care for it.. Has it changed recently?
I tried that KaNat program, & it works a tad better, but still not as good as it used to.. I've been forced to look for alternatives. eMule lags my system so much, it just isn't practical. Direct Connect has gotten a lot better since i last used it, at least.

You really should try Firebord, its waay different from Mozilla, has tabbed browsing, themes, extensions and doesn't use that much resources. Oh and it doesn't need to be installed, just need to be unzipped [but there's no mail and composer]
Heh heh! I actually d/led CrazyBrowser last night, & thought to myself, "Hey, this is a pretty good browser!" Unfortunately, it takes even more RAM then Slimbrowser. o.o;; Think i'll keep it for a while anyways, since the pop-up blocker works great.
