If you don't like it, you could find a job? Or go back to education? I got fed up of doing nothing after I left high school too, but a solution is never that far out of reach.

The job I'd like to do doesn't exist in Gansbaai, and I don't think Gansbaai's high school will allow me to return.
I got fed up with being given detentions for things that I didn't even do, and that's why I don't go to high school anymore.

The only solution that I can think of is modding Cave Story and trying to get my forum ready (which is a very hard thing to do it would seem but I can try).
Homeschooling is expensive in South Africa and food is, in my opinion, more important than education.
My father doesn't seem to think so. He'd rather spend money on things that aren't needed yet than spend it wisely.

Get your father to give you most of his money.
Then you can spend it wisely instead.

Seriously though; I'm glad I paid off my house years ago...but not having kids (well, none that I know of anyway) helped a great deal
Having a house paid off would be awesome.
Mine won't be paid off till 2026

I will never understand this mentality. But then, I am a professional layabout.

In fairness, weekends feel much more satisfying with the dread of going back to work on monday hanging over my head.

Then do what you need to do to get out of Gansbaai? I decided I wanted to be a Japanese to English translator, and there are almost zero opportunities for that in my home city. But I went and learned the language, gathered the qualifications I needed to be accepted to a degree course in it, and now I'm going to Japan on a year abroad, with a view to finding work in another country once I graduate. And then there's my father, who grew up in the tiniest of tiny villages (like... a hundred people tops), and was laughed at when he said he wanted to leave to become a writer. He's now a pretty successful writer and a senior lecturer of creative writing, and is hugely respected in that very same village. Point being that your dreams aren't restricted to where you happen to be at any given time. The world is a big, big place, and there are lots of opportunities out there. Heck you already speak English, which will open a lot of doors around the world.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be mean here. It's just that I wasted three years of my life feeling useless and not doing anything, and it's one of my biggest regrets. I'd rather not see other people do the same. You're sixteen, right? At that age, you have time and potential enough to do almost anything you set your mind to. Don't waste that. You'll only regret it later.

Hee. I love my holidays and my lazy days, but... like... only if they're punctuation marks in something a little more structured. Three years of doing absolutely nothing was just... waaaaay too much for me. :/ I don't think I'd ever want to do nothing, even if I won the lottery and money wasn't a concern. I'd probably just take university degree after university degree. :'D

Of course I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with being a professional layabout either. If that's what makes you happy. It's just that... well... in my case, it really didn't. :'D

After all the times that my parents moved from house to house in 2003, I can't bring myself to leave Gansbaai.
And I don't think my cat Simba will be happy if I leave Gansbaai.

I also speak Afrikaans, but it doesn't really matter.

Getting people wrong is something I'm terrible at. Most of the time.
And I tend to ignore people who are mean.

I'm 16½ and without an ID. An ID costs about R15 in South Africa.
I think it's already been paid for but my father doesn't get the chance to take me to Caledon.
Also, I have no regrets, other than buying Age of Empires III with my birthday money in 2009.

It's frightening how similar my experiences and goals are. Although in my case it was only one year. Or a little less than that. But it's also one of my greatest regrets. I never want to sink back to that point ever again. And I'll probably become an English-Hungarian translator waaaay before my Japanese is good enough to even attempt such things with that language.
