    Default FF Tactics Series

So I went to my usual "Dinosaurs R' Us" gameing place and what do I find in the PSX section but the Holy Fucking Grail of bargin bins, Final Fantasy Tactics (Not a Greatest Hits version) and it was only 12$. I think people would love this place I go to anyway, they get their hands on some of the best games out there. For christ sake, they have like 10 copies of FFVII in mint condition and their asking for 20$-50$ for it depending on the condition.

So I just started the game yesterday and I'm in love with it so far. I'm not big into tactical games. Disgaea and Advance Wars the only ones I've found acceptible but still annoying as shit. The game is simple yet it does kick your ass every now and then. Plus, I'm enjoying the story. The main character Ramza really reminds me of Vaan unfortunetly but there is a good side to that. Although the story seems to really be about Delita and his influence on the war in the story and Ramza is the side character, Ramza is also a big influence to the war because of his family ties and his involvment with several instances.

I did try the Tactics Advance for GBA and it was awful but it's kinda hard to live up to this game. What is everyones feelings for the Tactics series?

Honest opinion.. I really love the whole Ivalice series, probably more than the standard FF series itself. My favorite tactics game though was the GBA game. Somehow its story and characters.. I just loved them the best. 2nd favorite is the PSX game, followed by the DS game.. it just didn't feel like it did its part as a sequel. Might as well throw it out there, loved FF12 too.

I'm a big fan FF Tactics series. I have played and still playing them. Not just FF, but also other Tactics games out there such as Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.

I love FF Tactics, but the GBA version didn't really do it for me. However, I found solace in Tactics Ogre. It's as close as a sequel as we'll probably ever get. It's phenomenal.

The original FFT was actually one of the first games I got with my PS1 (along with FF7 & 8), and was my first real exposure to turn based strategy games of it's type (unless you count Bahamut Lagoon on Snes, emulated of course). If it weren't for emulators and frameskip though I doubt I'd be able to play through this again, the pace is too slow for me anymore. Same thing with FFTA; great game, just doesn't move along fast enough.

Judging from screenshots it does look similar, I've yet to try it myself though. Still gotta get around to that.

PROTIP: It's actually the other way around. FFT is basically a sequel to Tactics Ogre, since the PSX/PSP Tactics Ogre was a port of the JP-only SNES game, which was made by the same team that was later poached by Squaresoft to make the FFT series of games.

I really like Tactics, even though I haven't played it in like a decade. Has one of the most memorable endings, too.

Even though I haven't played it myself, I doubt you could go wrong with Tactics Ogre. It has the same designer/director as FFT, so it's no surprise they're similar.

If you want to have some fun there is a LEGAL rom hack out there called Final Fantasy Hacktics I believe that makes the game a CHALLENGE. I wouldn't suggest playing it until you beat the normal version first though

Yea, I know that it technically came first, but I was just making the statement since most everyone here played FFT first, you could consider Tactics Ogre to be a spiritual sequel.

Massive fan of these games as well! I'm assuming everyone here has had their hands on Ogre Battle: March of The Black Queen, at least a rom of it anyways. What about Ogre Battle 64erson of Lordly Caliber? Straying from the FF tactics but still worth a good play

Not to mention an even more awesome story, what with all the silly moral choices and stuff (wait, burning down this village makes me sort of good? OKAY!). ^___^ The class/ability-system will seem lacking in comparison though, sadly.

But, um, yeah, FFT is easily one of my top 5 favourite games. It's a shame that Cid breaks it.

I've had an iso of March Of The Black Queen for a while now, haven't really found the time or motivation to play it yet though (been trudging through an SMRPG hack recently). This and remembering how dissimilar the battle sequences are from FFTs has delayed it a little more. Though from what I understand, Tactics Ogre is quite a bit more similar. I'll probably end up trying that first. (again, whenever I get around to it =/)

My Psx patching skills are a complete failure. I can't sleep at night knowing that this exists and I can't play it -> http://www.insanedifficulty.com/inde...%201.3/weapons <- this should be patched and uploaded to the server for all to enjoy regardless of what level of pirating we're capable of.
