I actually just downgraded the hard drive in my PS3. It originally came with 40GB (useless!) so I changed it for a 320GB a couple of years back. I've now swapped the 320GB with the 120GB in my netbook, which I'd have done in the first place if I'd had any sense. No way I'll ever need more than 120GB in that console.

They aren't that different, just the HDD without the fancy casing won't fit into the slot properly so you have to work it in very carefully.

Can get a pre-HDDhackr'd 250GB drive with the slim case etc from ebay for £32.

Very good deal.

£145 + £32 for the HDD = cheaper than the price of a 250GB and I get 4GB more and a matte finish.

They can't ban a hard drive from Live. It just clones a drive, definitely no problems with using them, people have been since about 2007.
