Hi. Though I find hiding under magical blankets that protect you from the monsters at night highly comfortable. I'd describe myself as a... uh, whatever it is that's the opposite of claustrophobic. Someone who loves small but safe spaces.

I am neither particularly upset, nor in much need of calming. I'm here to have fun, after all, not to lecture you all based on the material covered and opinions developed in my own personal course of study. Humorous or no, I simply found it inappropriate on both a personal level (my father, for example, has tried to quit multiple times--one of the only times I've ever heard his voice sound as if he were personally hurt or disappointed was when he was talking about how my stepmother hadn't even noticed, and there after made no attempt at supporting him) and a "professional" level, though I am currently only a student.

Using humor is certainly a valid coping mechanism, but it doesn't work for everyone. If you had not been that sort of person, then Raz's comment could have lead to an entirely different reaction. How is he to know how to handle such things? If one isn't sure how another might react to a particular joke or statement, it's probably a good idea to avoid it, lest you offend someone. Or, in this case, make them give up the idea altogether. "You're right. After all, I've failed before. I might as well just keep smoking instead and avoid the hassle entirely."

"Last time" I quit cold turkey. However, it was pretty much the same thing as with Milady's father -- my ex didn't even notice, which was somewhat disappointing. I think it's also why I immediately went back to smoking as soon as we split up. However, seeing as how this time I will (hopefully) be quitting for me, I'm hoping there's a bit more personal satisfaction out of it.

I have a lot of trouble replacing this oral fixation with another oral fixation, since I don't like most other oral fixations, like chewing gum, or mints, or toothpicks or anything like that.

I completely agree. I can't sleep at night without being covered up. It doesn't even have to be a heavy blanket, but if I'm not covered then something could, like, touch me. I'm never worried about being eaten my monsters or something, it's just the idea of something reaching up and touching me that bothers me.

My apologies, then. I dislike regular italics, because they don't show up in quotes, bolded italics are my default formatting choices for emphasis. I was perhaps a little more deeply affected than I should have been, and like I said before, I realize the opinions of those of us on the internet may not exactly be the deciding factor in the decisions you make in your life. Regardless, it was the concept that I felt strongly about, not exactly this particular incident or statement.

Also, every time I talk to you, you get even more lovely. Gum is the worst thing ever invented.
