The only disappointing factor in LO is the story. Not that it's horrible, but it's not good. And, despite that, they like to shove it in your face.

What's supposed to be so great about FF 13 that will redeem the series?

I'm not quite sure, as is anyone else other than the developers.
It was promised to blow all RPG's away, and from the look of the trrailer. I'm a beleiver.

I'm currently playing Lost Odyssey, and I'm loving it. But then again, I got a soft spot for old school-turn-based-random-encounter-games. The only thing that bothers me is the constant stuttering, but at least it ain't as bad as in Mass Effect (did get used to it there though).

I didn't like the story much, it had good potential but they butchered it. Also, I didn't like the character models. They all annoyed me. Jensen was pretty cool, but he stopped being funny about the end of the first disc. Kaim was badass at first, but I don't know..he got annoying too. The rest started and ended annoying. And it was just fucking depressing...

When playing Lost Odyssey the other day, I was talking to my friend about how the random battle encounter system could be a lot better if the whole battle was an actual battle. With the enemies interacting with your characters through the whole battle. Then, when it is your "turn", you pick your action and your character seemlessly integrated the action into the battle.

That's kind of how the fighting looked in that trailer. But it's hard to tell. It's pretty easy to make a trailer look good.

Oh yeah, and the voice actor for one of the twins in LO was the voice actor for Phil and Lil from the Rugrats.
