On a completely unrelated note, I've narrowed down my next fiction project (yeah, like anything I aim to write will ever be finished) to 3 options. All deconstructionist shit, since thats one of the styles that comes more naturally to me and lets me indulge my cynical, dream-breaking views.
a. A sort of dystopian cyberpunk mix of Pokemon and Robot wars. The Disaffected Youth pitting homemade semi-intelligent bots against eachother for fun, street cred and next weeks rent money.
b. A non-handwaving take on the whole Sentai/Power Rangers thing. Giant robots, monsters and the kind of damage their battles do to the city around them. Plus lots of angst and handwringing over the catch-22 of how the heroes are dependant on hiding amongst (and thus endangering) the civilians just so they can stay alive to protect them.
c. Sailor Moon type stuff rewritten as a religious war, including gratuitous use of a pseudo-christian demonology and theology as the base. 6000 years worth of grudges will be settled by True Believers and conscripts fighting a war in the back alleys.
How about big pseudo-Christian robots controlled by demonic pokémons who fight over who gets to fuck Sailor Moon and her crew first?
