I didn't have them in when I started playing, and after inserting them I used a save state but.. em.. that shouldn't matter.

You need a game that comes with the option to format the memory card.
Either that, or just copy over the memcards from ePSXe--those come pre-formatted.

Or try these memcard files--saved a game to both, so they should work.

I can't save, but it doesn't say "not formatted" when I try to load from the main menu. Perhaps I can't save because of the fact that I'm using a save state from before the cards where there? But.. the game does see that the cards are inserted. Z.z

Edit: Sent cards were formatted, but no workie save on.

Edit 2: I can see the save files through the boot Memory Card menu.

So, me and Danny reckon it's the save state. Though it's really odd..

Some games have problems using a memory card in slot 1 so you could try switching to slot 2 (and eject slot 1) and see if it might work then. If it still says that it's not formatted see if it will format it for you or load a game that will. Most games will format the memory card if it's unformatted but I believe there may be a few that don't.

The second set of memcards I gave him were formatted.

For some reason, he still can't save Valkyrie Profile to them.

Guys, I'm a genious, so I fixed it.

Actually, it was the save state. Had to play from the start again. Thanks Hun, Seggy, Hal.
