Default Twisted metal 2 on Vista 32bit Quad core issue (ePSXe)

Been a while since I've been here.

I can't seem to get past the menu screen in TM2. when I chose an option, it starts up the music (which its supposed to do), but just sits there with a frozen screen. On a actual PS it does this for maybe a second, but on my emulator (ePSXe) it does not move on at all.

    My PC specs:
Intel Core 2 quad CPU @ 2.4 GHz 2.4 GHz (on the system window lists "2.40 GHz" twice)
    3 gigs of ram
    Vista 32bit

I tried it on the default 'nice' and 'fast' settings.
PS. I tried that imagecfg thing, and it said that it failed to 'map and load' it. and I put exactly the right directory. I emphasize EXACTLY. I even caped the right letters.

    Try this patcher:
    http://forums.ngemu.com/problems-gam...ml#post1005139

    Or try what's suggested here:
    http://forums.ngemu.com/problems-gam...ml#post1004994

For the last one, start ePSXe, press CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Task Manager, right-click on epsxe.exe in the Task Manager, go to Set Affinity, uncheck all but the first core, OK.

This is how you do it with XP; not sure if there's a difference with Vista.

Oh, and did you set ePSXe to WinXP compatibility mode?

    EDIT--
You could also try this newer emulator:

I did everything but the extra emulator, I'll try that if all else fails.

I'm running the game on a burned CD, is it possible that I burned it wrong with alcohol? if so, I so no longer have the original image file, so I'd need to redownload it.

thank you trying to help so far.

For ePSXe, what CD plugin are you using and what are its settings?

Since pSX Emulator doesn't use plugins, testing the burned CD with that emulator would be a good idea.

pSX Emulator wont run at all, maybe it isn't compatible with vista? I set the compatibility thing to WinXP for it as well still wont work.

Selected Cdrom Plugin: ePSXe CDR WNT /W2K core 1.5.2

    Select Cdrom letter: firstCdrom
Enable subchannel read from cdrom. (maybe slow!): not checked
Enable subchannel caching to disk. : not checked
Enable subchannel caching for LG-8520/21/22b : not checked

pSX Emulator is supposed to work with Vista.
That's why I recommended it over older PSX emus that haven't been updated in years, because they might not work in Vista.

Well, go here and ask for help getting pSX Emulator to work:

For ePSXe, try this CDR plugin:

found the problem with pSX and fixed it, so it now runs. TM2 works fine as well.

There is one problem, I cant seem to get my gamepads to work on pSX. They are the xbox 360 wireless controllers with wireless adapters, but they work like any other game pads I believe. When ever I try to set the controls to use the game pad, it doesn't take in any input. ePSXe on the other hand works fine when it comes to setting up the controllers with my gamepads.

I know I have TM2 working now, but I'll still be using ePSXe for other isos, and I have that CDR plugin now, so... what should my settings be for it?

    thanks again.

For your control pad problem - stupid question, but under Controllers, did you set the Device from "None" to whatever is the name of your gamepad?

You also need to set the Type too.

As for ePSXe, sorry, I don't have Vista, so I don't know for sure what you need to set them to.

All I can say is to put a PSX CD in your drive (burned or original), try one of the WinXP settings, set it to your drive's letter, then try Auto-Detection.

    Also enable sub channel reading.

If that doesn't work, try the other WinXP setting.

I have mine set to W2K/XP IOCTL scsi commands, if that helps.

well if that's a stupid question, I'm a moron for not mentioning this:
the only choice is 'none' for devices... could this mean that pSX doesn't support it? I sure hope not.

Under Control Panel (or whatever it's called in Vista) do you see something for Game Controllers?
Or something for Printers and Other Hardware, that then leads to Game Controllers?

If you do, then do you see your game controller listed as being installed?

yes pretty much exactly what you have in that screenie only in Vista form and it says Xbox 360 wireless receiver instead of Saitek P880 pad.

    :/

EDIT actualy it only has 'Advanced' and properties as buttons to press.

You need to mention this problem at the pSX Emulator forum.
    http://psxemulator.proboards54.com/i...?board=support
Maybe they'll be able to help you.

Sorry, but I don't know what else to tell you.

Did you at least figure out how to configure that CDR plugin for ePSXe?

    sadly no

Everytime I try to auto detect to read mode it says I need a PSX CD in first, which I tried with a burned PSX disc and normal black bottom PSX disc.

also I already posted the controller problem there, but they haven't been as quick to reply as you have sadly.

Maybe installing an ASPI layer will solve your CDR plugin problem?

This one says it's compatible with Vista:

This is probably a stupid question, but you did download the software that you have to have to be able to use the xbox 360 controllers on the computer didn't you? If not, you'll need to go to microsoft and get it.
