I'm not going to play them anymore. I'm absolutely burned out on the franchise -- it feels like I've played the same game four times now.

While I can understand what you're saying, I've never had the problem myself. I do think a sequel is going to have to change some stuff drastically, because it did start to feel a bit stale in some sections of ascension.
