it just reminded me of something. for all you windows xp users, xp has built-in firewall. you can enable it by right clicking on your internet connection (in "network and dial-up connections" folder), and in "advanced" tab you can enable/disable firewall. it can't be configured, you can only turn it on or off.

Let me tell you.. firewalls are good, but when you have this vicious friend that likes to hack to know what's inside your pc..you need a home network... yeah, I have one and an old PII as the host (in theory...or the main access...)... and as a firewall... my friend hacked me with unix(how? I don't know)...mf!

He is good (and a excellent programmer), and he explained me something about backdoors and security holes that microsoft hasn't patched yet. And showed a vast knowledge about networks.

    I'll test that firewall, gannon...

I am not paranoid about lamers though. There is a slim chance of you being attacked by someone like that unless you have a lot of enemies. I have never been hacked and I have only had one virus. No firewall. Or do I? hehe

ok Redfield, this is what you need to do to create individual dial up connection so you can enable XP's firewall on it...

dig out the following info : the dialup number you are dialing at AOL, your username and your password, their pop3/smtp mail servers.

when you collect that info, it's easy to create dialup connection by running "Network Connection Wizard" in XP. try to connect to internet with it, and if you suceed, disconnect and apply the firewall like i explained before. good luck...

Magus i told you before in some other thread that your sig rox

XP's firewall is average, and lousy because you cant configure it's settings. Redfield, you should disable or uninstall the AOL software, because your comp connects trough it. then run the dial-up connection you created.
