    Default Converting Famicom cart to NES cart

    I've tried searching for this, although I'm not finding specifically what I was looking for;

    Is it possible to desolder chips from a Famicom cart and solder them directly into a NES cart PCB? My current solution is to use an adapter out of an old Gyromite, but if I can do some soldering, it would save me from switching the adapter out between games. Not sure if anyone has tried this! Heck, I may even try after I get off work tonight!

    Yes there's a difference, the actual boards have 72 pins in the US and 60 in Japan.

    I'm sure you could just swap around rom chips if you had compatible donor carts. But compatible donor carts would be a nightmare, as I think each mapper type requires a different cart.

    Using an adapter is by far the easiest option. I wouldn't actually use a Gyromite adapter, get a real one with a shell and a ribbon to pull on. They look kinda overpriced on eBay, but you can usually find them included for free with a game. I've bumped into them plenty of times at local game stores, I think I have at least 6 of them kicking around now. I just got one buying a copy of Double Dragon for $2 at a yard sale a month ago.
    *PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

    You could look into flash kits for the NES the only issue is all the different custom carts and the odd Nes Mapper

    These are not that cheap though apx $100 and up over for a good one usually

    While looking at NES and Famicam kits I found an interesting note *Only Famicom can output expansion sound without modification. NES systems require modification to support this feature. at a guess that would be an extra feature of some Famicam version games (the kit I was looking at was the EverDrive N8 kit and the Famicom version of the same kit)

    The same team also done a Famicom To NES adapter
