really confused with MAME

Hi guys,

Some years ago I downloaded a fullset of MAME roms. It's called "MAME 0.148 cavesh3 nonag hiscore x32-x64". I still have everything stored on an external HDD of mine. But now it seems like MAME is already on version 0.163. (Yes, I'm really outdated ) - so, I saw there's this link with an update pack to version 0.161. It's not version 0.163, but it's still much better than 0.148 lol.

But I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with this. I'd just like to have everything updated to version 0.161. What should I do? I need some help.

never bothered with the MAME romset (too big for me) but if you're using version .163 of MAME then you'll probably want that version of the romset, not version 161. either that or get MAME .161.
