Question(s) about wii modding.

Hi this is my first post here, in fact my first on any computery forum. I'm more into nuts and bolts than drivers and ip addresses so please bear with me..

I've just softmodded my UK PAL Wii with HBC, BootMii etc. It's the first time I've done something like this so I'm a little in over my head, I have a US SNES with a Pro Fighter Q+ but that's another story. So anyway I have got as far as connecting a USB HDD and am ready to back up some of titles but am intrigued by getting a couple of iso images to replace some damaged discs I own.

From what I've read on here I need a "download manger" to handle images I want but here's where I come unstuck. I tried Jdownloader which threw up all kinds of warnings from my virus protection, Trojan Viruses and Worm something or others so I cleared that out double quick. Then I tried Mipony which installed "Dregol"? all over the place and changed all my homepages and and.. I get that people who want something for nothing are easy prey for a scam but this is cruel. Having got burned twice I'm not so keen to try again so can someone please tell me where I should go from here? I understand if a certain amount of reading-between-the-lines is required..

You don't need one but it is better if you do

Jdownloader you can get a portable version of that does not include adware or forced installs or any setting changes (portable = pre installed so you extract it to it's own folder and just run it, rather than going through any installs)
Not sure if Jdownloader2 is still the same but when I installed it, there was no side installs or setting changes
