Trouble with Final Fantasy III

I recently downloaded FFIII on my PSP using snes9x tyl. I got the game from emuparadise and the emulator from pspslimhacks. Everything runs fine until I leave a town and enter the world map. At this point the screen becomes black, but the game still runs fine. Has anyone encountered this before? Could it be the rom file or the emulator? Thanks for any help
