Our Taoiseach (Prime minster) Enda Kenny came out and urged people to vote yes at one point because "tech companies won't establish themselves in homophobic countries", which is crap, because tech companies will establish themselves wherever is economically viable. Again I hope this doesn't set a precedent for future referendums.
A little harsh saying the no vote is all about homophobia isn't it? Unmarried couples (regardless of sex) can still enjoy all the rights that married couples do. That should be enshrined in law, for equality.
This is basically about a tradition being available to same sex couples, and it seems many people have decided that voting yes is pc and/or a nice way to slap the church in the face.

Yeah you're right that is BS.

I'll be honest and say that I don't think the exact quote implied that people who voted no were homophobes but he did say something along the lines of "tech companies won't want to establish in a country which doesn't support same sex marriage".

It's weird, despite being secular I still kind of want to defend the church against some people, when they make massive generalisations against it.

In fairness Israel has been in the eurovision for years and they're hardly European, I don't take the eurovision too seriously so I don't really care who is in it anymore.
