MAME Fullset Question

Is there a reason why it's 42 GB? The set I have now (which is an outdated version 0.143) is only about 5 GB and clrmamepro says it's about half the MAME collection in total. I'm guessing there a lot more useless dumps in the EP release. Is there a way I can reduce the size of this set? Maybe using a program like clrmamepro to auto delete useless uneeded dumps?? 42 GB is way too much for a set...

Also I heard you could use clrmamepro to rebuild your set to work with the latest version (0.155)?? Seems impossible if you ask me, but anyways apparently I'm missing some files for some ROMs so I might as well start from scratch. Basically, what would be the fastest way to get a full MAME collection that's the smallest file size possible in my situation?

50.521 GB torrentzipped

31.434 GB torrent7zipped

The CHDs are,

350.570 GB merged

and that is from the official source.

I personally only grab the t7z set and a few of the working CHDs .
