Default GBA Game plug in problem

Hey very new to this. How do I get the GBA games to work with the emulator? I can get the GBC games to work... but when I plug in anything like Pokemon ruby or emerald, nothing happens on the screen. The percentage is displayed in the top title bar and my computer adjust the color scheme but no game starts...Thanks!
