Not sure why anyone would need hardware mods on the DC. I have everything released in every country in every region, save the 3 or 4 that have been done in the past couple of years.

I feel I'm missing something obvious, so enlighten me.

Of course, I hear what you're saying man. Softmodding is still a process for the most part usually. Though I'll usually pick expending some versus time versus having to shell out money.

Yeah, that just makes me think about the time wasted on my two JTAGd 360s. Just sitting in my closet dead with the RROD. Not that it's a terribly difficult mod, but it is fairly time-consuming.

I have a later revision grey unit, as well as a smaller PSOne, both US. I have a nice boot disc that allows me to play backups region free. Though I'd like to have a way to play games without having to burn them. I'm tired of all the disc cases and stacks upon stacks of full CD/DVD spindles.

Yeah I have stacks of backups for that console. I actually have 3 chipped units, that early Japanese one, a 9002 PAL grey and one PAL slim. I have another spare virgin PAL slim too.
Pretty sure all the chips are fully functional stealth types, they play everything afaik regardless of region.

I'm proud of myself. Last time I did this program, I was at ~16k.

It's still more reliable than a Sega CD or a 3d0 though.

I really need a segacd, but sorry that I would either find a dead one or pay a fortune for a working one.

Got a printer from my uncle for Christmas, decided to plug it in and try it. And I think the ink is out. Printed a Killer Instinct picture and the reds are....Not what they are in the picture, let's just say that much.
