[GC]Animal Crossing. Can't name my character.

When I have to choose a name I cannot type anything in. It just adds blank spaces for everything I press A on. (I have the "a" button bound to H) Whenever I press start the cursor just moves back to the beginning....I can't move past this and I cannot find anyone else having this issue.
In the first screenshot you'll see (or you wont see) my name is entered in as Steve.

P.S. I'm using the latest Dolphin Emu. (4.0-4873 x64)

The game up to the naming point works very smoothly, but here are my PC specs anyway.
Windows 7 64-bit
AMD Phenom quad-core 2.0 ghz
6gb ram
AMD M880G with ATI mobility Radeon HD 4250

I think that's just a dolphin glitch, I've been through the same before, you may need to download a different version, get a new ISO, or change controls
