By the 2015 holiday season, all eligible domestic returns on eBay will be eBay hassle-free returns and sellers may not remove hassle-free return settings from their listings. We updated this section also to reflect this future change.

Consistent After-Sale Experience. We updated the policy to reflect that we're simplifying the after-sale experience for buyers and sellers with a new improved return process that gives buyers a more convenient and consistent way to return items—right from My eBay. Many of our sellers who use eBay hassle-free returns are paying for return shipping on faulty or not-as-described items. Starting September 15, an initial group of sellers, (and after a transition period, all remaining sellers) will be responsible for return shipping on items which are faulty or not-as-described. Many sellers are facilitating returns for faulty or not as described items, but for those sellers who choose not to facilitate a return or provide a return shipping label for a faulty or not as described item, we may refund their buyers without requiring the buyers to return the item, and in turn seek reimbursement from sellers.

In a fantasy world where all buyers are honest it wouldn't be too terrible. But I live in reality. I already try to avoid Ebay when possible, but I'll probably try harder now.

For reference I only sell fully functional items or advertise/list them as broken. I take full pictures and always ship the item pictured. Yet I've had 3 bogus issues as a seller. I'm pretty low volume, high value on ebay. I would imagine power sellers run into scamming buyers fairly consistently.
I gave up selling after I sold my laptop. Guy claimed it as not as described though I took the best of pictures, of every scuff and mentioned everything. He sent it back, got a refund, ebay sided and I got my laptop back. I have been using it for two years since no problems. He must have just changed his mind om the purchase, but ebay was happy to side.

Ofc, ebay always sides with the buyer. Higher value items are generally more at risk for item swaps and returns due to remorse too...

The problem is some stuff is almost unsellable outside Ebay or Amazon (a laptop not being a good example of this, but say something like an oop anime set with a rough value of $100+). And Amazon is the same if not worse with how they will restrict your account if you have any issues as a seller.

Currently you pretty much don't need to put all but the most niche of video games on ebay. Between trade boards and facebook groups it's really easy to sell most games and avoid ebay/amazon as well as their fees.

Indeed, but at least the 360 version is playable. UNLIKE PS3.

Which is why if I ever do get Skyrim again it'll be for 360. Just like all my other games. My Playstations are sitting there collecting dust now.

That's what I play it on. Won't access my saves at the moment but that's another story. But I backed them up for when I reinstall everything
