Help a brother out! Nintendo 3DSXL issue.

Hey everyone, I've been registered here for ages but just now decided to post. Pretty sure I've posted before but I can't find anything for the life of me .

Anyway, onto the matter at hand.

So basically I played an amazing Pokemon Heartgold rom on my Nintendo DSi yeaaars ago, circa 2009, and for some reason I could use Zoroark in said rom. I don't know how or why but I could, I'm usually picky about the stuff I download so I don't think it was a hacked rom, and if it was it covered it very well.

Fast forward to today and I bought a 3DSXL (yay! ), but after downloading some versions of Pokemon Heartgold I can't make my save with Zoroark work!

So my question is this: Is there *any* way to know what version of the rom I was playing with by having only a save file (.sav)?

You would really improve my life if you can help me. I'm done slaying pidgeys.

I am going to presume your using some naff little kit like the R4 clones, if this is the case then yes you need a patched rom image, that you can either do yourself or you can download a pre patched copy

You also need the correct version of the rom (EU or US) and the *.nds file and the *.sav file must share the same name to be seen, if you have not already done this then check that first

It's BEEN 4 YEARS. FOUR F*CKING YEARS since I saw my pokemon the last time. I finally saw them again now! For historic purposes here's my lineup:
