    Default PSX Memory Card Region

Is it possible to have Japanese, European, and American saves on the same PS1 memory card without any issues? I would also be curious if the same conditions are true for PS2 memory cards.

I believe so. I have run Japanese titles on both my PSX and PS2 via a softmod or swap trick. I just can't remember if the same games saved for sure or not.

Yeah it works, I've used all region games on my NTSC-J & PAL consoles. Saved games all go on whatever card, I have several but I don't have specific ones for regional games.

    Spoiler warning:

Ok find this odd that it was even asked, so what is really being asked?

Every console can see saves from all regions with no modding (Memcards [any console with memcards] VMU [Dreamcast memcard] & other external save storage devices [memstick pro duo PSP ect..] as well as built in memory [Wii/Vita ect]) but the game that reads them must match the region, this is the only issue

If you are asking if a PAL game can see a NTSC save (or vice versa), then no it can't (there are a few small exceptions to that but not on the PSX or PS2, thinking more for Sega Consoles)

You can however change the region of the save to match the game then that will work most the time but not all the time, noticed issues mostly with PSX saves in the past, but converted most without issues.

Thank you all for the replies. And, Zorlon, the reason I asked is because with some systems, the Gamecube in particular, there are issues with having Japanese and American saves on the same memory card, and I was unsure whether the PS1 had the same issue.

You got me curious but what issues as I never got any, I used to use a softmod to play JAP and US games on my PAL Cube

Went through most the software methods from PSO+BBA and streaming to just using the Max Drive Pro and burned DVD's never had any issues mostly using an over sized memcard for saves from all 3 regions
