I did think that as well. Before L dies, I love it, but the whole bringing in Near and Mellow thing I thought was dumb, I do like how it ends though, so that saved the latter half of the series for me

Yeah I just didn't care for it at all, I think it's overblown. Again it depends why you watch anime.
Also why hide the spoiler text? Stuff as old as Deathnote can be openly discussed. If someone gets spoiled it's their own fault for not having seen it yet.
