Default JAP Region PS Vita General Questions

So, I have been contemplating whether or not a vita would be fun enough to get. I saw some nice Japanese bundles for the vita online and I was wondering if the jap vita's have an english interface out of the box? I was told that for US/EU vita's the confirm button is X and cancel is O, but for the jap vita's it's confirm is O and cancel is X. I was also told that switch is only for the vita's system menus and when you play US/EU games the buttons are the normal US/EU confirm/cancel button layout. I was also told new console boxes aren't shrink wrapped in Japan like they are in the US/EU for systems like the vita, can someone confirm this as well?

Yes, the O/X buttons (Confirm/Cancel) configuration was set as default and only applies on the LiveArea and system menu of Japan version (Asian version as well), but it will be switched when you import games from another regions.

Not sure about the wrapping thingy though.

You can choose which language you want to use when booting it for the first time, as well setting up the PSN account, time, date etc.

The packaging, manual are all in Japanese though, fyi.
