I'm a 3S player. XBL, tho.

Fireballs suck in 3S and if you're fighting someone who's actually using them to keep you somewhere, they suck.
Dudley is great, but Dudley takes work. He's SCARY AS FUCK in the corner.
Ken is the best new player character. You can win with him on just fundamentals.
Chun is the best character and will make people do more to beat you.
Yang is a great glass cannon with one combo.
Yun is great at high level (Genei-Jin combos are the highest damage in the game, but aren't easy), but mediocre at our level or lower.
Oro is fun as fuck because his combos are challenging but damaging and he can kinda turtle or rushdown.
Urien is great if you want to do unblockables on people all day. Otherwise, don't pick him.
Alex is a shitty version of Makoto. Rushdown stun character with big damage potential.
Makoto is great if you want to do stun damage and make people afraid to block.
Hugo is a grappler.
Necro is ... weird. He doesn't really have anything he excels at other than being weird.
Twelve sucks.
Sean sucks but has great buttons.
Q is the coolest character in the history of fighting games and a highly defensive character that wants you in the corner.
Ryu is just Ryu.
Elena is like a weaker version of Chun that has some interesting properties.
Akuma is another good glass cannon, but he has projectiles and easy combos.
Remy is a better version of Guile in that he can throw high and low* sonic booms and he can combo into flash kick and he has a forward moving special.

*Must be parried and blocked low.

Also, 3S is a game where the timid will lose hilariously quickly and the winners WILL ridicule the losers. It's a game where you HAVE to play like a scumbag in order to move forward. Every character has a pressure component to their playstyle. There are no Guiles or Fireball Traps in this game. Get the knockdown and High-Low your opponent to death.
