A: tell us exactly what model computer you have, And we'll tell u.
    B: Look in your manual
C: Go to manufactures website, look up your computer model and find it yourself. If its a dell goto dell.com if gateway go to gateway.com...etc...

open the case, and take out the ram sticks. there should be label on them, so if it says PC-33, PC-66, PC-100, PC-133, PC-150, then it's SDRAM. if it says PC-800 or PC-1066, then it's Rambus DRAM. any other mark beggining with PC (eg. PC-2100) then it's DDR-RAM. if you have old computer like Penitum I or Penium MMX, and it doesnt say anything on memory sticks, and they are shorter than normal sticks, then it's EDO-RAM.

    I'm guessing it's a Gateway Essential 450se ?

It's SDRAM, either PC133 or PC100 as it can use either.
