Woody Woodpecker is a cartoon, not a anime

Arguably, the stylization approach to the meaning may open up the possibility of anime produced in countries other than Japan.
For simplicity, many Westerners strictly view anime as an animation product from Japan.
    Are you simple?

The Japanese generally call all animation anime.
Westerners (especially anime fanboys) seem convinced it only means Japanese animation, and if you look up the definition that's what you'll see.

Course I know that, but I refuse to acknowledge it

I think it's nowadays accepted in the West to see anime refer to only Japanese stuff. It's kinda turned into an interesting cultural difference I guess, based on the massive influence of anime (ahem, Japanimation) on Western countries. We've come to the point where we can safely use anime in the West without being corrected to say Japanimation instead (unless you're a massive nerd or something...).

Even on the English Wikpedia, you have:

Anime (Japanese: アニメ?, [anime] ( listen); English Listeni/ˈænɨmeɪ/) are Japanese animated productions usually featuring hand-drawn or computer animation.

But on the Japanese Wikipedia, you have:

    Download Links:
Links are hidden from guests. Please register to be able to view these links. "Anime is an abbreviation for the word "animation", used to generally designate all films created via animation."

tl;dr I don't think it's a big deal. You just have to know the difference.

    I'm just trolling GoB

My uncle lives in Japan and he was actually the one that mentioned the business about them calling all animation anime.
Back when I was a kid we all called it Japanimation...that was the accepted term in the west.
Maybe it isn't pc or something now...but people still use (JAP) to identify the source of games and other media so I doubt that would be the reason.

I personally think calling anime that isn't Japanese "anime-influenced animation" is a little silly...but whatever

No seriously I just find that on average I enjoy tv shows more than anime and that in general TV shows I've seen have a much greater variation of themes and characters than anime, (anime tending to focus far too much on teenagers, I guess because it's a huge demographic of anime) and while tv shows can be good I think Films are overall better than those two.
