Valkyria chronicles 2 emulation which emulator to use?

Does the game run better on ppsspp or jpcsp? Currently i've only got a slightly out of date version of ppsspp and from skimming the forums of both emulators it sounds like the game may be somewhat ah, buggy still. Still things aren't always clear when reading those topics so I thought i'd ask around here to try to find out how severe the problems really are, and which emulator would be better overall for trying to play the game on.

Well, generally JPCSP gives better compatibility when playing games, meaning can run most games with less issues, but slow on some games.

While PPSSPP is better on performance, and runs faster, but less compatibility.

and about this game, I haven't tested it yet, but it listed as Playable on both emulators, so I guess the issues are not very severe.

digging around on their forums a bit i see that the game(as of 5 months ago, can't find anything newer) apparently corrupts saves on a very regular basis. It also runs into random freezes so often that you can almost never complete a battle. That makes it sound very unplayable if you ask me........

actually ppsspp reports the corrupt saving issue as well, and as recently as just earlier this month. Might be able to get around it with save states i suppose.....

okay it seems that after making a post on the ppsspp board and actually playing a few missions, this game is actually running without issues. Can someone help me with how to unlock the character Isara? If i try to use the code for her from the cheats section of gamefaqs, its longer then what i am allowed to enter. As for unlocking her via save data, well i'm not sure what folders to create and what to call them, or where exactly they need to be placed, can anyone elaborate on this sort of thing?

seems that the problem was related to me not using the english full width font when entering passwords. Passwords are working fine now, so no need to try to use the save anymore.

Yep, good to know you have solved it. For those who having the same problem, just switch to English Full-Width (pressing L button) before inputting any codes.

Hmmn it seems coming up a bit further ahead of where i am in the game, theres a freezing issue at the end of the story mission VIP escort in March, with ppsspp. Is it possible to use ppsspp saves with jpcsp? So far i've been ignored completely on their forums after asking for a status update on how the game works, so i'd basically have to go in blind since people are too lazy to be bothered answering me on those forums (post is about 48 hours old now. last several posts i can find are 5 months old and mention constant freezing problems)

figured out how to get my save file working with jpcsp but the game is lagging in battle 20 fps 41 average FPS(what the hell is the difference between the 2?) Settings recomendations? I'm using default right now outside of having setup my controller. I'm currently using jpcsp r3426 32 bit. System specs are win7 professional 64 bit with 32 bit java installed. I have 32 bit java installed because i was unable to get 64 bit java to work with mozilla firefox. 12GB RAM i7-3770 CPU 3.4GHz Nvidia GeForce GT 620 graphics card.

Not sure if its working for this game, last time I tested it on other game (Cladun for example), the saves appear to be corrupted when loading it on JPCSP (from PPSSPP save data).

If its not working, then maybe you can attach your save file here(hopefully yours is US version, since I only have that one), and see if I'm experiencing the same problem like yours.

how exactly do i attach a file on here again? Site only seems to be allowing me to do a quick reply and quick edit(not full on either one) and i'm not seeing how to attach a file doing things that way. Oh i should mention, you cannot test the freezing with ppsspp issue with my save file, as i am not yet to the mission it happens on, just read about someone else with that problem and I am assuming i'll most likely run into it as well. It would take me a few hours to get my save far enough for that purpose.

i already have the save file working for jpcsp, but well you can see the problems i've been having described above, its most likely a setting needing changing somewhere in jpcsp i suspect

Click the 'Go Advanced' button, then scroll down and go to Manage Attachment.

or you can just upload it somewhere on any filehost (mediafire, zippyshare, etc).

okay i am getting logged out immediatly every time i try to upload a file, going to have to create an account on a 3rd party site somewhere and do it that way, i will edit this post shortly. Nevermind got it to work by checking the "remember me" box. Keep in mind that this does not include the games install data, which includes the DLC chars i unlocked. You will either have to let the game remove them from the save file, or let the game install and then use the passwords for the characters that i unlocked. Also keep in mind the save is not far enough along for you to test the mentioned freezing issue, and that deals with ppsspp not jpcsp.

Alright, I'll test it later when I'm free ( have some issue IRL ). If you have reached the freeze point before I do, then perhaps you can upload the latest save file as well.

the exact freeze point is the VIP escort story mission in March, after you finish it and the FMV begins. It is said to be able to by bypassed by pressing start to skip the FMV however. With jpcsp besides the lag, i also note that the targeting reticule doesn't render, in addition to info such as amount to kill shots etc all don't render

here is an updated save file in March just before the VIP escort mission. Haven't yet tried it myself, but will probably get around to it later today.

Okay I just finished the mission, i was unable to reproduce the freeze I had heard about so nothing to worry about I guess.
