Galaga on MAME 0.149

Hi all,

Im new to MAME, setting up a man cave in my new house with an Alienware laptop and a 50inch LED screen. After several exhausting days I managed to work out most things MAME running 0.149 ui version currently.

Evey game I have run so far is working good aside from Galaga which of course is my favorite game lol. I have a full bios running and have tried downloading several different versions of the game but all are not working so was after some suggestions. The error I get when I run the game is:

" 51xx.bin NOT FOUND (tried in galaga namco 51)"
" 54xx.bin NOT FOUND (tried in galaga namco 54)"

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

the versions of the games out now are for version 0.151 of mame, update MAME

If you still have roms missing after you update to 0.151 let me know I will fix it for you.

Thanks Zorlon for the reply. I went to the link but it was version 0.152 now not 0.151 hope that doesn't make a difference? Reason I ask is I get the same error message when running Galaga with that version also

Yes mate I deleted it to be sure then re downloaded it from:

But still the same error:

Not updated to 152, I will look though in a few mins

151 version of Galaga does not have those roms in it though

Found the suckers, you need both Namco51.zip and Namco54.zip these are roms used by a few games so what they done was move them from the Galaga rom and other roms that used the same roms files into those zip files instead

Might as well get Namco50 to Namco54 and Namco62, just keep those in the roms folder

P.S. you might like Namco Classics Collection 1 and 2 as well (1 includes Galaga original and arrange version)

Thanks heaps that worked Galaga is up and running . Sorry to bother you but I downloaded Street Fighter 2 Champion edition and Street fighter 2 Hyper fighting but I get the same error when I try to run them:
"s9263b.1a not found (tried in sf2ce sf2ce)"

It's a new rom dump to 0.152 I don't have that myself

I will give you the main exec for MameUI 0.151 though

I dumped the 0.151 exe in my 152 folder and all the games are now working. Thanks heaps.
