It does sound creepy, but the only time I really felt like it went overboard was any time you had the fat character praising any girl under 10 as an angel. Other than that I didn't feel like it went to over the edge, it ended up making a rather cute story with a lot of rather touchy moments that made you tear up.
I just pretend the Usagi Drop manga doesn't exist. It doesn't, never did, never will.

Same. Once I started getting further in the game, different Pkmn would be first out, and that's how I maintained a somewhat smaller level gap. Cycling road? Time to bust out Kadabra. Cinnibar? Gyrados/Lapras (depending on my mood). Whatever the name of the route east of Fuchsia was? Rapidash/Pigeot. Seafoam Island? Jolteon/Raichu. Toss out other random guys depending on my mood, or if they needed leveling. Bulbasaur was usually 10+ levels ahead because he was so goddamn good against so many people, and Razor Leaf was massively OP, especially in Blue/Red (I think they fixed it in FireRed/LeafGreen).

Yeah, it's probably the worst in otaku circles. A while back I saw a news report of a girl who shaved her head to apologize to fans, while another one was shamed because she dared to have a boyfriend or something. That's really what bothers me.
Btw, for those interested, this is a 10-minute game and is fairly cool.

I'd say more but that would ruin the surprise.
