Default Epsxe 1.7.0 Causing Glitches in Games

My games have experienced glitches when running in my PS1 emulator. Such as:

1.) Lunar Silver Star Story Complete:

-In non-FMV audio dialogue, sometimes the sound just suddenly cuts and the entire sequence goes on completely mute.
-When staying in a particular location for too long, the BGM starts to experience noise and this only stops when the location is left, a fight sequence begins (if in a dungeon or any other location with enemies), or a soundtrack from Alex's ocarina is played.
-Random scrambled pixels appearing below the window for the FMV sequences.
-FMV sequences are shifted close to the right edge of the screen.

    2.) Suikoden II:

-When staying in a particular location for too long, the BGM starts to experience noise and this only stops when the location is left, or a fight sequence begins (if in a dungeon or any other location with enemies).
-In a fight sequence, the sound effects of item use, various spells, special attacks and unite attacks do not stop even after the command to do so is executed. They only stop after the fight is over.

What is causing these glitches and how can they be stopped?

Try upgrading to 1.8 or 1.9 they may have fixed them as they did with many other games.
I'm listening but I don't hear very much...

For both games make sure the FPS is set to auto and FPS Limit is on

This sounds like it's a sync issue

If the sound is still an issue try another sound plugin, like PEOpS SPU plugin or any of the others, I never had an issue with the Suikoden's or Lunar's even back with ePSXe version 1.5.2 but I didn't use the default sound plugin either

You may want to go back to 1.6.0 (Will work with any sound plugin and have CDDA enabled in them all) or to 1.8.0 with the Shark Enhanced patch to enable CDDA tracks in other sound plugins asides from the internal core spu

In which video settings do I make this adjustment? In the Main Video Plugin Settings or the Soft Video Plugin Settings?

Both if you like but just change the Main one plus I would set up PEOpS Soft as the main plugin, neither of those games are 3D games both are 2D games that software video plugins are perfect for, use 3D plugins like OpenGL, OpenGL2 & Direct 3D for 3D games if you like that take advantage of Higher Resolutions with nice effects but do very little for 2D games

The Stretch Modes can be changed though the HQ ones look the the best if you have the hardware for it that you should do by the looks of it, so go ahead set that to HQ2X stretched, change the colour depth to 32bit as well

Soft Video Plugin Settings should be used when you press F7 to switch to Soft Video Plugin. Was LunarSSS one of the games with a special game fix in the video config screen?

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.
