Default A few questions about NeoGeo

Hello, everyone. I'm not exactly new to emulation, but I still have a few questions about it - particularly running NEOGEO on my PSP.

I have the latest CFW and all (6.60 PRO or something like that), with a PSP 3000 Slim/Brite, and I've successfully gotten my NeoGeo emulator to run on it. It's runs games very smoothly. I've gotten Last Blade 2, Sengoku 3, Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad, Garou: MOTW, and KOF 98 all to run. All of these were downloaded from the Neogeo section of this site. However, some roms didn't work. Samurai Showdown V Special, Metal Slug 5, and KOF 2003 wouldn't run- and they too were downloaded from the Neogeo section. There were missing files, so I simply dismissed them as incomplete/bad ROMs. These roms are compatible with my version, too- I checked the gamelist.

This leads to my next question: will a Neogeo game from the MAME section work with the MVS emulator? I was going to try, since they should either have the same or more files included. KOF2003 from the MAME section also worked on my PC (but it was a MAME emulator, so...maybe that's why). But in theory, this sounds like it should work. I have the appropriate bios too, so there shouldn't be any problems as long as it's still a Neogeo rom, right? Even if it is in the MAME section and not the Neogeo section?

EDIT: Problem solved- just had to do some rom hunting is all.

The answer would of been yes to some extent

Neo-Geo roms as much as any other arcade games are based on MAME sets anyway but they may be older sets and most console port of Arcade emulators are based on older roms sets making it hard to find roms for certain versions

The best way to sort sets though is via the correct dat for the emulator and scanning the roms via a small program by the name of ClrMamePro

The biggest problem is getting to know what the ported versions use and what the correct dat is to use and the fact that with every update of Mame roms get updated and changed as well so x game rom from one version of MAME may not work with another version that has support for the same game because that game was re-dumped with cleaner roms/sets
