Although I didnt think 10 was great, or 11, or 12. I don't see where all the hatred came from for 13. It does get a little bit slow at times, but honestly, it isn't a FF game if you don't have to stop and farm once and a while

Yeah but as much as I hate to admit it the materia system in 7(loved 7 by the way) was the beginning of the end for final fantasies

The materia sysem took away character specific classes such as thief warrior etc.(I know the jobs system also did this but in a better way.) and gave them to everyone.

For example tell me who the best mage character was in Final fantasy 7 who was the best thief or pure fighter for that matter
Compare this to 9 ask your selves the same questions above except for about 9
now I know everyone is going to have their own opinions for example I like using Areis/Areith as my mage beginning game
because she seems frail and better suited to the role.

the point is you can give any magic or ability to anyone in 7 basically meaning you just pick characters you want and not really making you get to know any of the characters better or develop a lasting impression of them (other than aeris because of the death scene.)

    Merry have you played 8
if so how did you like it

A general rule not always true but most times

players that like 8 usually hate 7 and vice versa

I liked 8,although I still don't understand Ultimecia's Time compression stuff. My brother told me that 7 is overrated.

7 is over rated I still loved it but as the first final fantasy in 3d it is bound to be in the top two of most best of final fantasy list

plus because of fan boys it's one of the most debated games on the internet it received and still does to some extent a lot of hype.

so yes it is over rated does that mean it's not a great game
    no it doesn't

my advice go into it with an open mind and don't expect to
play the God of all rpg games

I think you will enjoy it.

you can do this if you want but my advice is to just start the game I think on this particular game watching a walk through first would ruin the experience for you.

Emulate or you could always try to get the PC version

it was released in 1998 on PC
it was re-released in 2012 only difference is some dumb achievements were added Ex.win your first fight.
and this year they released it on steam.
