pokemon emerald - saved data deleted / corrupted after elite four

today i was playing pokemon emerald on the vba emulator and defeated the elite four at the end of the game.
but after the credits rolled and it went back to the main menu it said something like: "saved data got erased due to corruption" something like that.
so its impossible for me to continue after i beat the elite four.
usually i used states to save my game because it was easier that way so i didnt really use the in game save feature that much.
i have tried searching for this problem on google and on youtube but nothing seems to work for me and i can't think of anything else i could do.
i really dont want to start all over again because i put too much efford into this, is there any way i can continue through after beating the elite four without getting that message?
i do still have a save state from before i enter that elite four place.
any help would be appreciated.

Give me your save state I will try my best to fix the issue, the biggest issue is that save states do save emulator settings that are maybe not correct for this game to start with by the sounds of it.

There are very good reasons not to use save states exclusivly and you have just been on the wrong end of that reason

oh thank you, but how do i send it to you? sorry i dont use these forums very often so i dont know much about it.

so are you saying that i should never use save states? because i always use them when i play on an emulator. I just find it easier that way.
i've also heard al lot of problems about saves being erased or corrupted, especially pokemon games.

so the only way to avoid those corruption is by using the in game save?
cause i was also planning on starting playing pokemon fire red, wich ive also heard has alot of those corruptions

Instead of hitting Post Quick Replay hit Go Advanced, there you can attach a zip file, so just zip up your save state and attach it

What version of VBA are you using?

The save state is not compatible with what I have.

its says that its version 1.8.0-beta 3

Yeah I'm using the stable release 1.7.2

Anyway I fixed this with a bit of messing and create a battery file you can use that will not report corrupt

1st get yourself vba-over.ini and dump that in the vba folder (that just fixes games that don't detect save format correctly)

2nd open VBA (no rom open) set Options>Emulator>Save Type to Automatic and Flash 64K and Options>Emulator>Real Time Clock close the emulator

3rd download & extract Pokemon Emerald.zip to the correct folder for battery saves

Last Run VBA again load the rom , do not load your save state, it should load the battery file and allow you to load the save game

Ok, i will try doing all that at a later time today,
but can i ever use save state again in this game or do i have to use the in game save from now on?

You can use save states after the fix yeah, you just had the settings wrong when the original save states got created, I fixed that though, again though do not use states exclusively

do not go back to the old save states either it will just break what I fixed.

p.s. saves can also be used in other emulators ect but states can't so lets say you wanted to use VBA-M or VBA-Link to trade pokemon a save state is not going to cut it
