I've always hated modern FP shooters.
I can remember playing Black on the ps2, I remember how good its visuals were, and how bored I was. From that point on I seemed to just avoid playing them. This continued the entire way through The call of Duty series until eventually I bought a ps3 which happened to be bundled with Modern Warfare 2, a game I had no interest in but I did take the time to play through the story (which gave me no greater joy than Black did all those years ago)
However, about a year ago I moved in with some friends, all of which represented some part of the gamer demographic. A lot of you already know the types of games I play, but to sum up I like to think I do play a wide variety of genre's, from racers to JRPG's.
Now the point of this thread is coming. One of the guys who moved in owns a ps3, but almost exclusively uses it for Black ops 2. We all tend to hangout together and we alternate rooms, with the game being played coming down to the room owners preference. This often leads to playing Black ops 2 when we're in said friends room.
At first it didn't interest me at all, but as I improved I began to enjoy myself, I felt a feeling of danger I never felt playing other games, that terrified feeling in your chest. However, I continued to only play it when we were hanging out in his room, months have passed, and this morning I went into his room and played it for 2 hours by myself. Something I'm almost ashamed to admit, but it did make me wonder if maybe I have been passing up on some games all these years that it turns out I really would enjoy. Not speaking only of shooters but also games like Baldur's Gate, which has been recommended to me countless times, and I know a lot of you who would turn down games based on their Genre without even taking a second to think about it (Dan)
What I'm basically getting at is maybe we all need to take a look at ourselves as gamers, and pray we never end up in my situation now, play Call of Duty for enjoyment. Thank you and goodnight.
