what west nile virus?

The other day I was watching the evening news, and they reported this breaking story that the west nile virus had just killed its first victim in my region (southwest PA) and man, was I concerned, since I thought those NYC people took care of containing the WN virus a long time ago .. anyways I found myself trying to scratch it off when all of a sudden I realized with horror that I was scratching a mosquito bite that I had mysteriously gotten on my arm!! Then as I quickly glanced over myself, I found that I was covered in mosquito bites!!!

Just then I remembered I had gone on a camping trip last week and must've had hundreds more mosquito bites all over .. and i just freaked out .. Is anyone else worried about this?? I mean, I've been through colds and scraped knees, but this thing terrifies me

Aggh .. I'm having trouble breathing .. and I'm starting to feel faint .. I think I'll lie down for a while ...

Yes, it's a good scare, but the chance of catching it (for all practical purposes) is close to nil. It's just a threat.

Anyways, I'm in Alberta, not Ontario or Quebec.

we don't get mosquitos in england, in fact we don't get anything.
we get umm, Squirrels, they can hurt if they bite you, that our deadliest animal
