Wii external HDD recommendations

I didn't get the new version of USB Loader GX because I haven't found a wad yet. I'll try it when I find one...

Just use the forwarder that comes with Modmii it works fine with USB Loader GX infact it is recommended you run it that way as it's easier to update the bin file rather than reinstalling a Wad with every update, a forwarding channel is a wad but you update data on your SD or USB drive instead

extract it onto your SD or USB drive in a folder called usbloader_gx in the apps folder the USB forwarder channel installed by ModMii can run it

it will also be seen in the homebrew channel

I haven't had chance to try this. Still using configurable usb loader, and using the wifi connection to download the covers.

In usbloader gx, I've altered the paths to point to the Gamecube directory, they now show up. Another problem is every time I try to load a Gamecube game, it asks if I want to copy to sd card. I can get around it by going through the HB channel and manually selecting the r1213 IOS249 dol file. Is there a way to stop the message and just boot gcn games the same as Wii?

I only have this problem in usbloader gx, the CFG loader works fine.

That's kind of why I stuck with CFG loader after testing USB Loader GX for a while except I got a different error since my games are already on SD. The DIOS MIOS can also load from SD, not just the Lite from what happened to me. It boots DIOS MIOS then comes up with an error about some file(s).

I would just use CFG if you plan to use DIOS MIOS (or Lite) since it can support Lite as well from v70r51 I think. There's a built in updater somewhere in the gui, most likely to be the settings tab on bottom right.

Sorry been out today but to change the SD thing you need to set it up to not ask I run all my GC from HDD and using USB Loader GX

You need to go to the settings menu (the cogs icon)

Loader Setting -
GameCube Mode MIOS
GameCube Source (can be left on auto or main path) this will just hide the games though if set to SD

Custom Paths -
Main GameCube Path usb1:/games (it can't be anything else anyway if you are loading from USB so if you are not installing them to the games folder that may be the issue)
SD GameCube Path (path can't be changed to USB anyway)

Make sure you are not using the lite version of DIOS MIOS as that is for SD only though I seem to be able to use the none lite version for both HDD and SD, shrugs

That should be it for that, can't think of anything else really

If you like though you can upload your settings file and I will take a look for you, I do seem to remember getting the error myself at some point but quickly got past that, just don't remember how exactly

EDIT:- in Loader settings you can change the Boot/Standard, mine is set to IOS 249 no idea if that will make a difference or not though, I can't tell on my end without knowing your full setup (if you upload that settings file though I am happy to take a look for you)

Well your post confirms that I'm not on the correct version still. I don't have the GameCube Mode in the loader settings...

I'm on Rev1209 latest is Rev1213

My Dios Mios is not reported correctly for some reason but I'm on 2.8 though the latest is 2.9

I'm being a lil lazy and haven't updated but I have been getting into a few games on my PS3 instead though as I'm starting well always have been behind on actually playing games, I do spend far too much time on these forums :/ (Why update if it works unless something is fixed that I actually would use then no point most of what was fixed in GX is for NTFS and USB 1 (USB 0 is best to work from anyway))

If not I will upload the exact version I use, it's on my Wii HDD though so a bit of a pain to hook it up but not that much lol and I'm happy to do that just help you out a bit

Zorlon, you solved my problem like a hundred times! I never had the right version of USB Loader GX (thanks for linking it)! Never mind, I'll stick with CFG, at least it loads up games while having dml. It's too confusing to use dios mios for sd when it mainly for usb
