Default Suggestion for Main Site - Not to double archive larger game files

Sometimes I find that when I download some of the larger game files, they are double archived (i.e. old versions of the split rar file, 001, 002 etc.)

BEFORE you say how to extract files (especially 001), let me just say that I know how to extract rar's and combine 001's (the only [Split] archives on the main site)

I introduced an 001 issue before; in short is was a problem caused by renaming of the split files that caused someone downloading the file to find that it has no extension after combining (therefore unplayable by emulators even with a valid extension); an example is one of the copies of Luigi's mansion here: http://www.emuparadise.me/Nintendo_G..._Mansion/66663

I think a single archive would mean there won't be many problems such as the one mentioned. It would also make the site look like it has more original stuff rather than ones that come from other sites. I know it will be a major effort on MasJ's side but it's just a suggestion.

    Maybe those are "scene releases"!

It's faster download all the rar inside a big archive rather downloading 50 from different links.

I suggest to extract the "big archive", but keep the "scene release" untouched.

If one of more archives become corrupted you can always join a torrent and fix them (downloading a couple of MBs rather than GBs).

I mean, I know those double archived scene releases (you can tell as it usually states the console abbrev. and then some name) could save some space, but it's not just the scene releases; pretty much all of the larger ones (including the dead ones)

001 files are not rar's, it is used by 7zip which is freeware and far superior in every way and you shouldn't have no trouble whatsoever extracting it with 7zip. I personally double 7z when a file host rejects the upload due to it being blacklisted. It would take to long to go through them all extracting and re zipping the entire collection and uploading would suffer as a result. You can use jdownloader which automatically extracts for you when downloaded

I'm not entirely sure I follow. Generally speaking applications will recognize a file regardless of its extension, so long as that file is readable by said application; the whole point of using file extensions is as a labeling scheme for us (and recognition through an applications built-in "open" or "load" options).

It would also make the site look like it has more original stuff rather than ones that come from other sites. I know it will be a major effort on MasJ's side but it's just a suggestion.
If the "stuff" in question is, other than the labeling, identical data wise, why does it matter? Isn't a more varied selection of available content more important than who people think originally ripped it?

Also, I can imagine another reason for compressing files multiple times before hosting them would be to save bandwidth. Even negligible amounts of file size reduction (say, 10mb on a 700mb file), across multiple downloads, stand to save the administrators a substantial amount of money.

"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"
