    It makes it that much more obvious.

    Star Trek is a lot of things, but a complex plot isn't one of them.

    Unless Kirk turns out to be a jedi.

    That'd be a pretty huge twist.

    Or even a post credits scene where they come across a derelict Millenium Falcon.

    That'd be twist worthy.

    Having one of the maybe 2 big TOS villains show up in a reboot is rather easy to see coming. Especially when it's hinted so damn hard.
