Default Brazilian Wii (having problems with Mario Kart Wii now :[ )

Ok I'm afraid to try to unbox my Wii and turn it on cause I will lose the ability to give it back to store saying that I don't want it cause I can't softmode it.

This was bought here where I live in Brazil and I want to know if there is a way to know if it will be US, EU or if this thing will have in the system menu something like that: 4.3B ( B cause it was bought in Brazil : ) ) and I will not be able to use modmii.

Can someone please help me? in the box it says: RVL-101BRA

IIRC, it will be a PAL Wii since it is sold in Brazil, and even if it has system menu 4.3 installed (the latest one released), you can still use LetterBomb or similar methods to install the Homebrew Channel.

Basically, it does not matter where or when you bought it. If it is a Wii, it can be soft modded.

Yes, any Wii. The only problem is that newer Wii's may not play games from backup discs. These can only play games from USB drive and SD card.
Having compared the speeds between disc and HDD, you'll never want to load from disc again.

Yeah the only thing that I hate is that I can't find one with gamecube support. I bought this one with the description saying that it could play gamecube games but in the end I got the "Slim wii"

You got a slim Wii? I thought they were only in Canada!
I would return it and get a full size Wii. Not just because of NGC games, but because they removed other things too. ... like internet.

    Do you mean this one?

"**Please note: If you've updated your Wii Menu after 6/21/10, you may not need to update again".

It will ask to update on first start up no matter what.

I think so, but am not sure.
You could probably sell the card and just download the WAD files for any game you want to purchase. Every single one of those Wii virtual console titles is available for download one way or another.

Nothing screwed up. Nintendo can't tell if you're running backups.

The list is short right now, but there are many WADs (which are virtual console and other applications) that you can install with the HBC. If you want another virtual console title, just make a request in the request thread and someone will try to find it for you.

Seriously though, sell the card because you can download everything that you can buy with it.

I know but here where I live ppl just prefer xbox and stuff so it would be a pain. I want to test my Wii as long as I can to see if it's going to have any problems so I can return it virgin. After that I will just softmod the bastard!

EDIT: I think I'm going to risk it. I mean a simple game it's not going to prevent a softmod right? and I can delete it when I start the softmod!

Theres no risk at all. I don't know what risk you're talking about.

Besides, if you left the game on your Wii and then softmodded it, the game would still be there.
When you back up your NAND, keep it forever. Just saying.
