Default Half-Life (NTSC-U) PS2 CD to DVD help?

Hello! I need some help on converting a Half-Life CD iso (downloaded from this forum) to DVD. I have wasted many DVDs in trying (used DVD ScanLite 3.7 to patch the files before burning in ImgBurn). I get an endless black screen after the PS2 bios start (I'm using a PS2 Slim with a Matrix modchip).

Thank you very much in advance!

I just burn the .iso image (actually .bin/.cue) directly to DVD then?

Edit: Tried, IMGBURN tells me "Your image doesn't appear to be the correct format for burning on to a DVD"
    "image format: MODE 2/FORM1/2352"
    "DVD format: MODE 1/2048"

Would you like the program to convert the data to the correct format "on-the-fly" as it is written?

I tried this, and I still get the endless black screen.

Nope you still need to do your CD to DVD convert just skip the file patching

You can not actually burn a CD image onto a DVD because the header of a DVD is bigger than a CD so a CD image will never burn to a DVD correctly

Look at the guide at http://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?43544 just skip the media patching part (It will corrupt the game)

I have rebuilt both a PAL and NTSC versions even used both with the Official U.S. Playstation Magazine #57 Demo that has a mod for half life in it (the mod is just an early version of Half-Life) yeah it worked with the PAL version of Half-Life aswell

Then do I extract the files and burn as they are?

Extract: Copy them directly from disc image into a hard drive folder, or any other method to do?

Build a DVD image with the files extracted from the CD image

Best to try and keep the same TOC and or File order

Just read the guide I linked it is a while since I done my last CD to DVD convert, just skip the media patching part

The files needed should be there as well for creating a working CD to DVD convert

I've done the guide steps - save the patching - to the letter (took care of the Isobuster order, added the dummy file later). Now burning...

Tell you after I've tested it (should be 1 minute now).

    Edit: No. Still doesn't work.

Tested it in Emu and doesn't work either.

I guess you just fail it's not hard and no patching is required, sounds like you are not rebuilding the disc correctly, possibly the software you are using to make a DVD image.

PS2 CD's and DVD's have header data that normal DVD creation software does not even look at, this = fail for retail games

I could upload one of my discs but they are ESR patched, you can either try and unpatch it or just install ESR

I didn't trust un-patching as it changed from the original image on a CRC level though it may still work as normal after I don't know because I never actually tested anything after un-patching

PAL or NTSC version and what upload service?

The NTSC version I done isn't as old as the PAL version I done, that I done years back the NTSC version I only done last year while doing some tests with ESR then played through the extra content from the mag demo DVD with it

    EDIT

Ripped the NTSC-U version while I was waiting for a reply

    EDIT

Unpatched the ISO so it's no longer ESR but a standard PS2 DVD

    EDIT

Off to bed now, let me know if you want it

    What upload service is best???

Went with Billion Uploads, though can't say I trust any of them :/

I would use a download manager on it as well to make sure it downloads ok

You are welcome to test it with the emulator before you burn as well

I can't claim to of tested it with an emulator though myself but if the CD works with it I don't see any reason why the DVD would not

    EDIT....
