DSi XL with Acekard 2i - Questions regarding online/multiplayer features

Hi guys,

I have a DsiXL with an Acekard 2i card inserted in it.
The card has a few games on it, one being Mario Kart.
I'm don't know anything regarding the DS and online/multiplayer gaming as this is my first DS.

I'm going to use Mario Kart as an example for my questions, though if Mario Kart is a unique case, I would like some general answers regarding multiplayer/online gaming on the DS.

It seems for Mario Kart that one way for me to play is through sending my "friend code" to players I'm interested in playing with, vice versa I obtain their code and input the code.

There seems to be another method of connecting to Nintendo's servers or so, and it will automatch me with other players, I'm assuming. Is this method safe if I'm using an Acekard 2i card?

Yes it's perfectly safe though last time I done that with Mario Kart alot of the players had been using cheats/used in game bugs, I was also out classed in alot of games of Mario Kart with players that didn't need to cheat to do better than me lol

Played that with R4 (original real one, none of those silly clone carts for me), M3 Real, Acekard2i and SuperCardDSTWO, even done it with a GBA flash kit (was also a M3 kit M3 Simply I think it was, had others aswell) with the aid of a DS PassMe on my old DS fat, it's safe always has been

Organised games are best, specially if you can find a group of reasonable evenly matched players

Thank you for your quick reply! I don't plan to play Mario Kart as I also stink at the game, though I was just curious about the online capabilities of the DS.

Are the cheats due to the R4/Carts (I'm assuming user-created hacks/mods are now possible due to the carts) or was the game just buggy?

All flash kits can use cheats including the Acekard2i but yeah cheats via both flash cart cheating and action replay type devices, you can even mod the actual rom

The game was also buggy there are some in-game short cuts dropping off certain parts of the track = on your last lap or dropped back on the track a lot further on even the new 3DS game had some bugs but they released an update patch for the 3DS (though the fix is optional)

P.S. don't ask me for exacts on the bugs, gamefaqs or a few youtube vids may have those though (not looked myself)
