Default Wii balance board syncing problems

So the girlfriend got a third party balance board and Wii Fit Plus from her parents. And now it's up to me to make that shit work The brand is "SnakeByte" or something..
It doesn't want to sync properly. The first time it just worked, but when the girlfriend wanted to use it again later it didn't work anymore. The game asks me to press the sync buttons on the BB and Wii > I do so, nothing happens.

Anyone with experience with (third party) balance boards?

You have to press the sync buttons at the same time.
And you have to sync the board for every different game you use it with (you don't just sync it once and then play whatever you want).

You could try turning off your console and removing the batteries from the board too
3rd party accessories can sometimes be a pain.

    Spoiler warning:

Ahh this board is a piece of crap ._.

I tried pushing the sync buttons at the same time, holding them together for 2-4-6-8-10 seconds, pressing them sequentially in both orders... The weird thing is it worked the first time

You could try an official balance board instead of a 3rd party one (they often don't work like what happened to my brand new 3rd party ps2 controller a couple of years back).
