    Default Videogame challenges: NES gaming!

Instead of bumping this fabulous thread I've decided to make a new one, that is hopefully a bit more fun. Basically, I've been playing a fair bit of NES lately and you should do the same. Therefore I will list my recent accomplishments and you should all try to live up to them. Screenshots and videos are appreciated, but it's enough if you state your progress (gamer's honour. Totally made that up just now). Besides, I haven't even figured out how to record games with random enemies (when I watch the records I get hit by enemies that weren't there when I was playing, causing me to fall down and stuff).

Oh, and if you guys don't feel like playing along with this awesome thingie it'll just be me listing stuff. AND NO ONE WANTS THAT!!!!

Some of these things aren't that hard. I just breezed through Megaman I and II for the first time in 15 years, but the first one tends to get listed as a really hard game or whatever so I'm including them aswell.

    So, what you should do:

    Elmdor's challenges:
    1. Beat Castlevania - Completed by crusher
    2. Beat Castlevania III (my best: without dying at all) - Completed by Drags

    3. Beat Contra (my best: No continues, ended with more lives than I started with, not sure how many deaths since I've done this many times. Needless to say, no stinking Konami code).
    4. Beat Super C (Contra II) (my best: dying once) - Completed by Drags
    5. Beat Ninja Gaiden
    6. Beat Ninja Gaiden II
    7. Beat Ninja Gaiden III
    8. Beat Megaman - Completed by Drags
    9. Beat Megaman II - Completed by Drags

    11. Beat Family Feud (I've only done it "co-op" though)
    20. Beat Double Dragon III (I've only done it co-op)

    Drag's challenge:
    10. Beat Batman: The Video Game (his best: no deaths)
    12. Beat Megaman III - Completed by Elmdor
    13. Beat Megaman IV - Completed by Elmdor
    14. Beat Megaman V - Completed by Elmdor

    15. Beat Megaman VI - Completed by Elmdor

    crusher's challenge
    16. Beat Adventure of Lolo 3

    corey's challenge:
    17. Beat Bionic Commando

    Open Challenges:
    18. Beat Solstice: The Quest for the Staff
    19. Beat Battletoads

I personally haven't included anything I did when I was a kid, but if you want to list past achievements it's alright, but it's more fun if you actually play these titles now.

Oh, and save stating is for loser, if it even needs to be said.

This is quite tempting to say the least. And you know I kinda want an excuse to replay some classics so why not? I might even throw up a screenshot or two.

Also I'm thinking of playing on my PSP Go with breaks in between sessions. Meaning that I will save a state when I take a break and load when I continue. Is that okay? :O

Definitely joining in on this. I have plenty of NES carts to play. Time to dust off these reflexes and get to playing some NES.

Same here. I think we can safely knock all the NES Mega Mans off the list for me, since there's video proof that I've completed them all.

I'll even add my own challenge:

    10. Beat Batman: The Video Game (no deaths)
    Spoiler warning:

Once you learn everyone's patterns, it's extremely easy. I'm sure there are some other challenges that I make for myself when I replay games, but that's the only one I can think of at the moment.

I knew I could count on you.

Why, of course. I do that aswell, it's not like I'm going to be entering coloured dots after taking a megaman break ^___^ (Oh, and I use those kinds of states for games without passwords too. The equivalent of leaving your console on etc).

Great idea on adding a challenge! See edit in first post. Feel free to add the other MM titles aswell. <3 I've been meaning to play Batman for a long time, and now I have an excellent reason. Uh, I should probably read some kind of let's play guide or something, so I can record stuff just because.

I'm in! As for screenshots, should I capture the ending of it or something else?

Would it have to be in that order?

You do whatever you want to. I claim to have done all these things, but all I have to show for it (well, a mate of mine have seen me replicate almost every "feat", but that's no help) is a ton of videos of me dying on the first or second level of Castlevania III (before I realized the problem with recording stated above). As I understand it, some emulators - when recording - won't even show save states being used, it just writes stuff over when you load. And screenshots can be swiped off the net, or taken after save stating through a game. So basically, there aren't many sure-proof ways of showing off anything. Still, a video or a screenie could be fun as an update, but it's no more than that.

Of course not. And you can complete your own challenges, so to speak, and add them here for other people to do.

Edit: Just added "11. Beat Family Feud". Quite different from the other titles, but it really is a masterpiece I tells you. Me and my brother (yeah, so it's a lot more fun to play with someone else) must've tried, like, 40-50 times before we finally beat it; by getting 20k points, I think it is, thus beating at least four families, assuming you get the fast money shit right. Which you won't alot of the times. Although, it's surely easier for americans. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHICH TIRE MANUFACTURERS YOU GUYS LIKED IN THE LATE 80IES/EARLY 90IES!?!?!?!?!?! Watch out for the Bradys though, they're never wrong.

Okay then I'll probably start with Castlevania today/tomorrow. Just have to beat the final level in the Adventure of Lolo 3.

And add it to the list, yes?

I just beat MM3 aswell. But I'm thinking Drags should probably throw those games up there. Yeah.

Yeah, might as well toss up MM3-6 for me. There's video proof that I did it around here somewhere.

I'm going to attempt one of these tonight, I think. Just not sure which one.

I've been on a NES bender lately myself. I think the only challenge I've gotten close to lately is Ninja Gaiden 1, but I've only gotten to around Stage 5 almost to 6.
