Default Hi there, I read the rules but one rule caught my eye..

    this rule here

    2) No Warez - This means no requesting, sharing, linking, etc, of retail games for computers. This also includes such things as programs, non-game related music, movies, games, cracks, serial numbers, keygenerators, and links to them. This is an emulation community, so we don't support nor tolerate the trading/linking to, of these things here.

isn't that what this site is about lol

sorry Im probs wrong but had to ask as curiosity is killing me.

Basically PC software that doesn't fall under the umbrella of abandonware has never been fair game here. It's a fairly arbitrary distinction, and I don't really know what the reasoning behind it was originally myself, but that's the way it is and that's the way it shall remain.

Warez is PC or Mac games that aren't considered abandonware (I.e. DOS games). Everything else is fine.

Completely wrong, have you not browsed the entire site? Hell a whole bunch of so-called abandonware isn't even "abandoned"

In my view it's just because it's a whole other ballpark when talking about "Warez" First off, all that other content would just be a huge pain in the ass to host and the site would balloon exponentially. EP is relatively small when you think about it and flies under the radar and garners less attention than if it would have music, pc games, movies etc..
Not to mention it would be a pain in the ass most likely to maintain. It would be a huge ordeal to include. Just my reasoning on why.

Warez also extends to computer programs and whatnot, which we don't want to invite onto here.

If I recall correctly, it's because the company that hosts the servers for EP gets really squirrelly at the thought of warez, but doesn't necessarily mind emulation. This information may be massively outdated. It's just what I remember MasJ answering to this question years ago.

[ edit ] SegNin remembers the same thing that I do. Someone keep digging until we find his original post.
[ edit ] MasJ explaining why he feels console emulation is different from warez. Considering he runs the site, his word is pretty much gospel for what is allowed around here.
