    Default First fighting game?

What's the first fighting game you ever played?

As for me, being born in the early 90's (1992 to be precise), I can't exactly call my self an old-school gamer, but I still have some really fond memories. While not sure what game was first, I remember playing Samurai Shodown V in arcades with a friend. We played it all the time after school, I can't imagine how much time I must have wasted on it, but it was so much fun, got beat pretty hard in it by my friends though :p

I also played Soul Blade/Soul Edge on PlayStation with my litte sister alot, she also beat me... hmm... She always used Taki and spammed low kicks like crazy, haha

I know I played a Mortal Kombat game, I just dont remember which one. I distinctively remember playing that Star Wars fighting game, only played it once at a friends house. I watched this girl I loved run threw Soul Calibre 2, that was awesome.

My first was tekken for gba. I remember a buddy and I decided to unlock Hiehachi in one go, and were surprised to find it only took about 3 hours.

The Old DOs Mortal Kombats, then Soul Edge and Street Fighter Alpha 3 at an arcade.

Street Fighter 1 or 2 at the arcades, didn't like it much though.

The brawlers like Final Fight are what I spent all my coins on

Oh man, there have been so many. The earliest I can recall is Super Street Fighter II. The good old days where you could spam fireballs and nobody could stop you.

Street Fighter II was the first I tried my hand at playing. I remember seeing Karate Champ before that though, if you can count that as a fighter. Never played it, but it looked like a fighter. I'll never forget the first time I saw Mortal Kombat though, I was on a trip to Indiana Beach (if Sprung wanders in here he'll know what I'm talking about), and the game couldn't have been more than a month old. Some dude was playing it and just destroying the computer. He was Scorpion, and when he would lose he'd switch to Sub-Zero. He knew the moves and that fatalities... it was great. My buddy and I just sat there and watched this guy for probably a half hour.

Personally though I was more into the brawlers like another poster mentioned. Double Dragon, Final Fight, TMNT Arcade, D&D Tower of Doom and I had a soft spot for that Punisher game (the one you could choose between Nick Fury and the Punisher).

I guess I'm the old guy here. "Karate Champ". "Fighting Street" (the original Street Fighter on the T.G.16)...And "Mike Tysons Punch Out" was prettty epic for it's time...and even now IMO.

That original Street Fighter is soooo broken. I never liked that game. I always heard Karate Champ had ass for controls as well, so i never touched it at the arcade or on the NES

Oh yes, they were both horrible. But being that the question was "first fighting game" and not "Best"...I had to mention them...

EDIT: I totally meant "Mike Tysons Punch Out" was epic....not those other 2

That being said...Fucking Nintendo...I guess they always had their shit together...
