Yeah the cheap ones can be fine specially DVD+R, DVD-R though the quality does vary far too much, though I have even had good cheap DVD-R's in the past

I do tent to stick with what I know is good though so I do go back to verbatim DVD+R's from amazon uk (direct from Amazon so no 3rd party sellers) that I know are good ones

Game Name: Resident Evil - Code - Veronica X (USA)

Region: NTSC-U

(Notes): Downloaded and re-downloaded a second time from this site. Burned using Imgburn, one at x2 write speed and the second at x4 write speed using DVD-R, both of them ESR patched. And I also tried all combinations of the ESR settings.

Status: Both times failed.

That game works just fine and is already on the list

could be 1 of 2 things naff media or a bad disc image

what model PS2 are you using slim or bulky?

what discs are you using as well (I got the bit about DVD-R)

myself every PS2 game I have burned is on DVD+R but I have a mid range slim PS2, the last Slim PS2's can't seem to have ESR installed from others have said, bulky models of the PS2 can't read those

you can see if redump.org have the game listed and check the crc and make sure it's a good disc image

they do have that listed the crc should be F979EFA5, you can see the crc value while the ISO is still compressed if you open it with 7-zip or if it's extracted you can use one of the many sfv checksum tools http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_file_verification

P.S. you need to check the crc before patching not after (after patching it will change the crc and un-patching never results in the original crc either)

I'm using Staples DVD-R's, and my ps2 slim model no. is SCPH-70011. They work with every other game on the ESR list that I burned except for RECVX. . I'll try again when I purchase more DVD's off amazon like Verbatim (heard those are the best). Should I get DVD+ or -?

If you get DVD+R get a low number of them so you can test them and make sure your system can read them fine then go buy a handful, DVD+R's are of a higher quality hence they are called +R but not all hardware can read them fully (I do buy them in 100's from amazon.co.uk as it happens and yeah they are Verbatim) they should do actually my PS2 is a SCPH-70003 a slightly older model slim, it is also a PAL region console.

The killer with any brand DVD they do more than one DVD-R and DVD+R made in several countries and are all different quality, there is less chance of getting bad DVD+R's though

P.S. check your disc image is ok first it has a chance to be a bad image.

Got RECVX to work with a different ISO, and i found a new game to add to the list, but I still haven't played through it all to see if there are any issues. The new game is Champions of Norrah: Realms of Everquest converted from dvd9 to dvd5. Not sure if its MULTI or NTSC. It flickers in the beginning kinda like ICO's special DVD edition, and you got to choose english, then it goes to normal.
