    Default Gaming PC help

Hey guys here is what I have come up with so far, its probably not great because I dont know a lot and havent spent much time at all on this. I have no idea what to do as far as motherboards are concerned, and im not too sure what I should do for a power supply wattage wise. I want to spend about 200 - 250 for those two parts but possibly a little more if it is worth it. Anyway, this is what I have so far. I'm going for an overall price of around $1000. Plus i'm going to probably pick up a 1080p monitor sometime soon.

Could you give some examples of games you will playing and what video settings you plan on playing the majority of your games? Your 1080 monitor suggests you are expecting 1080 resolution, but after that, it's not detailed as to if you're using max antialising/.etc. I see a lot of excess waste in the GPU when the CPU barely rivals an Intel i5 for $70 less. You should consider an i5-2500k or the later i5-3570k models. http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=I5-3570KBX

Overall, if all you'll have is a 3.0 PCI graphics card and two Hard Drives, a $60 Motherboard is the most you'll need, followed by a 800 watt power supply.

I'm going to be playing mostly new games, no specific types really. I just want the best bang for my buck at around $1000. I just threw those in a cart to get a rough idea of the kind of parts I could get for that kind of cash. I don't really know a whole lot about pick out parts obviously.

That sounds like a good gaming pc although an Intel CPU would be worth considering just because they run cooler than AMDs

If i was remotely usefull (how ever unlikey that maybe) feel free to click the thanks button or share some rep.

And when that time comes just think of how much cheaper it will be if you use these exact parts

Make sure to get an after market heatsink for your CPU. They usually work, but the reason for the i5-3570K is so you can under/overclock. Stock heatsinks aren't great if you want to overclock. I prefer to underclock a little bit so I don't need loud fans, but I care about having to listen to my comp.

Just thought I'd mention that if you're buying another HDD, it's probably best to grab a Western Digital.
They still make the better drives imho.

Yea, I second your statement. I have a WD VelociRaptor and it speeds up computer significantly in sync with my i7 processor. But if you do have the money to afford an SSD you wouldn't go wrong with them either. Like everybody else said above, you would be better off using an Intel iX processor. They have good cache, are speedstep energy efficient, and good for overclocking. Use an 3rd party heat sink, preferably copper based and if not then an aluminum+copper combo since it cools better than the stock one that comes with the processor. You want to get a heat sink that is passive and can be converted to active (I have the MEGAHALEMS REV.B which you can add additional fans to, Google it). Make sure you have a warranty on all the parts you purchase, believe me, I learned the hard way when I built my first rig.
